With joy and thanksgiving, the Congregation of Holy Cross, United States Province of Priests and Brothers announces the ordination of eight men to the priesthood. The ceremony will occur on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. EDT, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the University of Notre Dame campus. The Most Reverend William A. Wack, C.S.C., bishop of the Diocese of Pensacola – Tallahassee, will confer Order of the Presbyter through the ancient Christian sign of the laying on of hands and the prayer of the Church.
“It is a great blessing to have Ed, Nik, Stephen, Ryan, Tyler, Peter, Mike, and Brian join us in the ministry of the priesthood,” said Provincial Superior Rev. William M. Lies, C.S.C. “They are wonderful ministers of God’s friendship, and each brings unique talents and gifts to our community and to their ministry in the Church. They will bring hope to the people of God through the Sacraments and their service.”
Rev. Mr. Edward James Dolphin, C.S.C., was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and is the second of three children of James and Tina Dolphin. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Drexel University (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), he worked as a software engineer before entering formation in the Congregation of Holy Cross. He earned a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame in 2023. He is a Rector at Dillon Hall. While in formation, he worked at St. John Vianney, André House, St. Ignatius Martyr, and was Assistant Director of Old College.
Rev. Mr. Nicholas Henry Guiney, C.S.C., grew up in Hudson, Ohio, and is the only child of Liam and Alice Guiney. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Liberal Studies from Holy Cross College and a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame in 2023. He currently serves as a Hall Director at the University of Portland and assists in the Campus Ministry office. He worked in East Africa at St. James Primary School and Br. André Medical Center in Nairobi, Kenya. During his time in formation, he served with the Grotto Network, on the Order of Christian Initiation (formerly RCIA) team and as Assistant Rector in Siegfried Hall at Notre Dame, and assisted at Holy Cross College in Campus Ministry. In the summers, he worked for Holy Cross Family Ministries in Easton, Massachusetts, and at Family Theater Productions in Hollywood, California, both assisting in media and evangelization efforts.
Rev. Mr. Stephen Anthony Jakubowski, C.S.C., was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is the third of five children of Michael and Susan Jakubowski. After enrolling at the University of Notre Dame in 2013 as a first-year student, Jakubowski entered the Old College Undergraduate Seminary Program in 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Philosophy in 2017. He received his Master of Divinity from Notre Dame in 2023 and is currently working at St. Ignatius Martyr Parish in Austin, Texas. While in formation, he spent summer placements at André House in Phoenix, Arizona; St. Ignatius Martyr in Austin, Texas; Canto Grande, Lima, Peru; and Nuestra Madre Santísima de la Luz in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He also did part-time placements as Assistant Director at Old College and Assistant Rector at Fisher Hall at Notre Dame.
Rev. Mr. Ryan Patrick Kerr, C.S.C., is from Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and is the youngest of four children to William and Patricia Kerr. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and English from the University of Notre Dame, he entered formation in 2017 and received his Master of Divinity degree from Notre Dame in 2023. He currently works in Campus Ministry and serves as a pastoral resident at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts. During his time in formation, he was an instructor of the Common Good Practicum at Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, Indiana; spent a summer at André House in Phoenix, Arizona; handled marriage preparation at St. Pius X in Granger, Indiana; taught and worked at Fe Y Alegria and Yancana Huasy in Lima, Peru; and served as Assistant Rector of Keough Hall at the Notre Dame.
Rev. Mr. Tyler Carter Kreipke, C.S.C., was born in Zionsville, Indiana, and is the youngest of two children of Donald and Christine Kreipke. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame in 2023. He is currently assigned to assist and teach at the Shiley School of Engineering at the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. During his time in formation, he worked in Religious Education at St. Joseph’s Parish, South Bend, Indiana; as a Pastoral Associate in Nuestra Madre Santísima de la Luz in Guadalupe, Mexico; Adult Faith Formation at St. Adalbert’s Parish, South Bend, Indiana; as a Pastoral Associate at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Portland, Oregon; as a Seminarian-in-Residence at Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana; and taught in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department at Notre Dame.
Rev. Mr. Peter Andrew Puleo, C.S.C., was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to Pete and Melissa Puleo. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame in 2023. He is currently assigned as a Deacon at St. Joseph Parish in South Bend, Indiana. During his time in formation, he served as the Assistant Rector at Sorin College and Pastoral Associate for Baumer Hall at Notre Dame and worked as an Instructor for the Common Good Practicum and Seminar at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Rev. Mr. Michael Francis Ryan, C.S.C., was born in Columbus, Ohio, and is the ninth of eleven children of Robert and Mary Ryan. His older brother, Rev. Brogan C. Ryan, C.S.C., is a Holy Cross priest. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and worked as a construction engineer and superintendent in Chicago, Illinois. In 2017, he entered the Congregation and earned a Master of Divinity from Notre Dame in 2023. He currently serves as the rector at O’Neill Family Hall. During his time in formation, he served as Assistant Rector of Dunne Hall and Pastoral Associate in O’Neill Hall at Notre Dame; worked as a catechist to young students; served as a hospital chaplain; and assisted at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes and Patrick Peyton Center in Lourdes, France.
Rev. Mr. Brian Joseph Vetter, C.S.C., was born in Columbus, Ohio, and is the youngest of three children from John and Patty Vetter. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine and Theology and a Master of Divinity from the University of Notre Dame in 2023. He is currently a middle school science and religion teacher at St. Adalbert School in South Bend, Indiana. During his time in formation, he worked as a student teacher at Holy Cross Grade School in South Bend, Indiana, was a Spanish Order of Christian Initiation (former RCIA) facilitator at St. Adalbert Church in South Bend, Indiana, and was an Assistant Rector at Baumer Hall at Notre Dame.
