Recap of the 95th Annual Bengal Bouts Tournament

The Notre Dame’s Men’s Boxing Club wrapped up another successful season on Saturday, March 29, with the Bengal Bouts Finals. This was their 95th tournament, the proceeds of which go towards Holy Cross missions in Bangladesh, where Holy Cross priests and brothers minister in more than 200 chapels and educate more than 120,000 students. The Holy Cross Mission Center is deeply grateful for each boxer’s dedication—body, mind, and soul—to supporting the missions of Holy Cross in Bangladesh. Your hard work and commitment help make a lasting impact, and we celebrate your efforts both in and out of the ring!

At the date of publication, this year’s Bengal Bouts had raised over $194,480 USD.

For some in the Congregation of Holy Cross, like Superior General Br. Paul Bednarczyk, C.S.C., Saturday’s Finals was their first opportunity to attend a Bengal Bouts event thanks to the generous donation of tickets offered by the Men’s Boxing Club’s leaders. As a result, more than 15 Holy Cross priests, brothers, and men in formation gathered to cheer on the boxers and show their support for the club.

We must, of course, thank Coach Nate Walker, President Creed Leathers, Captains Michael Rauch and Will Robbins, and club member Dylan Cha for their leadership this year. Together, they took great strides to increase engagement in the local South Bend community, including local Holy Cross parishes and youth boxing clubs; to develop a valuable curriculum for boxers to learn about Bangladesh throughout the season; and to spur greater alumni engagement through the Bengal Bouts alumni gathering you hosted on March 28. These efforts raise the bar for future Bengal Bouts leaders, and the Holy Cross Mission Center will be here to assist them in the years to come.
