Chapter delegates for the Congregation of Holy Cross, U.S. Province, along with Bishop Joseph Bambera, recently held the Chapter meeting – which takes place every three years – at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania (delegated and Bishop pictured above).
One of the more joyous moments from this year’s Chapter was when the East Africa recommendation was unanimously approved. The passing of the recommendation will be relayed to the General Chapter in 2022, and if approved, the District will become a Province. The East Africa District delegates, Rev. Cyprian Binaka, C.S.C., and Rev. James Burasa, C.S.C., were delighted by the news.
The U.S. Province Chapter is held every three years to review the state of the province’s common life and mission, determine major policies, and elect superiors as well as others involved in the administration. Each Province and District also has a Superior, ordinarily elected by the Chapter, who with his Council provides pastoral and administrative leadership. The Superior of the U.S. Province is Rev. William Lies, C.S.C. He was elected in 2018 and will serve until the next Chapter in 2024.
