Each year, the Women’s Boxing Club at the University of Notre Dame hosts the Baraka Bouts tournament to raise funds for Holy Cross education in Uganda. This year, they aim to raise $75,000 to help bring to completion a new girls’ dormitory that will make high-quality education available for generations of young women in Uganda. Reflecting on Baraka Bouts

By President Anna Prest, Notre Dame Class of ’25

———

Looking back as a senior, the last four years as a member of Baraka Bouts at Notre Dame have undoubtably been the single greatest blessing of my college career. Through this club, I found a supportive community of strong and passionate women, dedicated to working towards something bigger than ourselves. It’s not just sweaty workouts and adrenaline-filled spars that characterize our club, but also our philanthropic values. This is the most “Notre Dame” thing you could do: service paired with spirited athletics. We would not be entering our 22nd year of the Women’s Bouts without the generosity of our donors and support of our friends and family. This year, we have a lofty goal of $75,000, which will help build a new women’s dormitory at Holy Cross Lakeview Senior Secondary School in Jinja, Uganda. My personal dream is to visit these Ugandan schools one day, interact with the students, and learn more about the work of our club halfway across the globe.

If you are able, please come out to support my amazing teammates on November 11, 18, and 21! All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will be donated to support Holy Cross education in Uganda. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.
