St. Joseph Province Receives New Generator

Established as a Province in 1998, the St. Joseph Province of Brothers works in eight dioceses throughout Bangladesh with its Provincialate offices located in Dhaka on a joint campus with St. Joseph Higher Secondary School and Holy Cross Scholasticate-Formation Program. Throughout the year, all brothers in the Province will gather on campus for annual retreats, Assembly and Provincial chapters.

The high volume of individuals that come through this campus has created a load shedding issue for the Provincialate, meaning the temporary suspension of the electricity supply on campus which is a common issue throughout Bangladesh. The load shedding can be caused by a variety of factors in Dhaka – misuse, illegal connection, or insufficient production. When load shedding issues arise, production decreases in mills and factories, operation temporarily stops in hospitals, and students cannot study properly.

Through the generosity of benefactors, the St. Joseph Province was able to purchase a generator for their campus in Dhaka for use at the Provincialate, St. Joseph Secondary School, and Holy Cross Scholasticate. And, after a six month shipping delay, the generator is finally installed and up and running!
